Roger Gaetani is an editor, writer, translator, producer
and educator who is deeply concerned about the education of children especially
since becoming a grandfather. Born in New York, Gaetani went to college at Syracuse
University and Indiana University. He spent a number of years in Morocco and Saudi
Arabia as a teacher. While there, and in travels through other countries in Africa
and Asia, he gained an appreciation for traditional cultures, thought, and art.
As an educator and developer of educational materials and programs for many years,
Gaetani seeks to publish materials that edify, inspire, and lead to individual growth.
He is currently working on a children’s book about Tierno Bokar, an African Sufi
master who was remarkable for his universalist attitudes and tolerance towards orthodox
religions. Gaetani is editor of the teen book, A
Spirit of Tolerance: The Inspiring Life of Tierno Bokar by Amadou
Hampâté Bâ. He is also co-editor, with Jean-Louis
Michon, of the World Wisdom anthology
Sufism: Love and Wisdom, translator (from the original French)
of
Introduction to Sufism: The Inner Path of Islam, by Eric Geoffroy,
and he is also director and producer of the DVD highlights of the 2006 conference
on Traditionalism, entitled Tradition
in the Modern World: Sacred Web 2006 Conference.
